 Thoughts from Happisburgh Rectory
Taken from Psalm 103

Too often we take God’s blessings for granted until they are taken from us. Then we recognize how important even the most common gifts of God really are.

There’s a legend about the day the sun didn’t rise. Six o’clock  came and it was still dark as night. At seven o’clock it was still dark as night. Noon came and it was dark as midnight. By four in the afternoon, people thronged the churches to beg God for the sun. The next morning huge crowds gathered outdoors to face the eastern sky. When the first rays of sunlight came, the people burst into cheers and praised God.

Because God’s goodness is as constant as the sun, we are in danger of forgetting what he gives us every day. But if we make a list of the gifts God gives us, something will happen to our hearts. Why not try it - and don’t forget to thank Him.

Someone once said ‘ If you want to feel rich, count all the things you have that money can’t buy’.

Have a great summer.
